I had this game for quite a while, sitting quietly in my Steam library, and hadn't played it despite all the good things I'd heard about it. I had played A Bird Story recently, and it was absolutely wonderful, so I thought I'd spend a quiet rainy night with 'To the Moon.'

Five hours later - I've finished the game and - wow, just wow. "To the Moon' has instantly moved to the top of my games list. I've been playing games since I was a small child, and nothing I've ever come across has affected me quite so deeply as the story in To the Moon.

This is an almost entirely story-driven game, so be warned that if you're looking for high end graphics or action, you're barking up the wrong tree. However, if you can overlook the clunky controls and RPGMaker graphics, you'll find yourself engrossed and entranced by (in my opinion, at least) one of the best video game stories ever written. To the Moon spans the entire lifetime of a man who, at the end of his life and with the help of a research company, wants to experience travelling to the moon. Without giving too much away, the story quickly becomes far more complicated, with every new detail leaving you wanting to play more just so you can see how the tale unfolds ... and quite a wonderful and enchanting tale it is. The dialogue is so well written that you actually feel the characters in the story come to life in your mind, and by the end of the story you truly feel what each is going through, and ultimately understand their motives and ... well ... their reason for being.

Along with the amazing story, the player is also treated to a delightful soundtrack, both enchanting and haunting, that makes this game worth the price of admission on its own merits. I highly suggest purchasing the soundtrack along with the game - you're going to want to listen to it over and over again.

In conclusion - I can't speak highly enough of 'To the Moon'. If it's sitting in your Steam library gathering dust you need to brush it off and give it an evening - you're going to love it. If you don't own it yet, it's worth every penny at full price (and then some), and once you've finished the game, I can almost guarantee that you're going to be recommending it to everyone you know. Yes ... it's that good.

10/10 This is a must play game for fans of story-driven games. :)
