I really wanted to like this game. And there are some reasons to but in the end I cannot recommend it.
It looks great and the music is good but I find it lacking on the gameplay side.

The fighting system works well. But it becomes rapidly repetitive.
Enemy behaviors are rather basic, with little to no interaction between them. This means less interesting choices for the player. And in the end, all fights feel more or less the same (with a few exceptions, to be fair).
"Channeled" actions are a good idea until you realize that if you kill that enemy, then this other guy will act one slot sooner, move, and now your big attack hits an empty cell.

The story is generic and every twist is predictable (even for me, so not a great sign).
The world is full of promises but they never come to life. What about all those cool looking spots on the map? Nope, nothing to see, move on. That dragon looks cool! Yeah sure... but the associated event is meh. And you never meet the damn thing, nor come to any kind of resolution of that aspect of the world.

Many systems have no real value:
- equipment durability
- crew affinity
- money (past the first 2 hours maybe, becomes a non issue)
- city affinity (gives a discount but see previous point)
- scrolls are a good idea but you mostly get useless ones

The UI is a pain:
- boss units have traits... and you have to sift through a strangely sorted list in a menu to find what they do. Fun.
- the camera keeps centering on your company at every event
- your current path is lost and must be re-set at every event
- you cannot see known data about known enemies in the dungeon when selecting your team
- an icon will show you the class of each crew member, but nothing for its job, injuries, fatigue, etc

Bugs
Sometimes a crash when loading. Sometimes, the ghost of an enemy haunting the battlefield. Some combos that should probably work but don't. A charmed enemy just standing there.
Nothing too problematic in the end.

And yet I went to the end of the campaign, so it is not all dark :) I just see the potential everywhere and am a bit disappointed.

If a developer of the game reads this, know that I realize this review is harsh. And I am sorry. The goal is not to hurt but hopefuly to make this game, or the next one, a bit better. And in any case, remember this is only the opinion of a random guy on the internet, so meh :-)

Good remaster of an old game!
This is always a perilous exercise for studios: too few changes and players are angry, too many changes and players are angry too. I think the devs found the correct balance and made this old timer enjoyable again.
And they are working on fixing the bugs and small UI quirks, that is always good to see.

Transcripted is a very good mashup of shooter and puzzle (the game mechanics work surprisingly well). New rules, powers, enemies and objectives are introduced very regularly to keep it interesting.
The game is quite challenging (well, for me at least) but you can always replay previous levels to get more upgrade points or adjust the difficulty if stuck.
On top of that, the game is wrapped in a well written story with nice voice over.
Overall, the game is fun and well polished. Enjoy!

If you like schmups, buy it, you will definitely like it!

It provides a really good challenge and you will die. A lot. And then play again! Because you were so close, and now you have seen this boss crazy patterns and are prepared for them :)
There are also many weapons of different types (lasers, bullets, contact...) and upgrades and you will have to find the ones you prefer. Some are quite hard to master but really powerful.
The daily run is a really nice feature and adds a good replay value.

Oh, and the music is just awesome :)

This game mixes sound and color and manages to be relaxing and tense at the same time. It will définitely make your neurons sweat but once you get the hang of it, it's really rewarding! There are also many game modes and stuff to unlock.
Really great and innovative game!
