Random Textual NonsenseMetro 2033 does a really good job at pulling you into its desolate world. There are some technical issues, but they don't detract too much from an otherwise solid and really atmospheric game. Definitely worth the money if you're looking to get sucked into a post-apocalyptic wasteland for a while. Don't go into it expecting stalker, though. While some parallels can be drawn between the two thematically and aesthetically, they differ greatly in terms of the fiction and the way they play. Metro is a far more guided experience that is pretty much a straight line from start to finish, but it's a fun and often suspenseful ride while it lasts.
Munch's Oddysee is the first in the Oddworld series to make the jump to 3D and is the unfortunate victim of a somewhat muddled development cycle. It was originally a PS2 game which was hastily ported over to the first Xbox when Microsoft realized they needed more exclusives. Due to the combination of those two things the game neither looks as good or plays as well as it should, but despite its flaws I found it to be an enjoyable experience in the end. If you're a fan of the series and can put up with some general jank it's definitely worth playing through.
Frozen Synapse is a great simultaneous turn-based strategy game from an indie developer that deserves some support. The very well done minimalist art style should guarantee that it’ll run on a wide range of systems, making it a great netbook or laptop game and the soundtrack is quite good as well. If you want something that you can easily play without a large immediate time commitment I’d highly recommend this game.
