i wish i could erase my memory and play this game for the first time again. amazing story, art and music. and they did a good job putting their own unique and fun twist on turn based combat. i can’t recommend this game enough, i recommend going on totally blind and take your time to enjoy it to the fullest.

if you're a fan of games like Meat Boy, Shovel Knight, VVVVVV - this is a must play. this has definitely become my favorite of the challenging indie platformers (except maybe Cuphead).

the game is quite difficult and even if you're an experienced fan of platformers, it's not surprising if you do 1000+ times on your first playthrough. at the same time though, the game is incredibly forgiving - you die, and then you're back at the start of the room in just a second.

the art style is lovely, even while using pixel graphics, the backgrounds and environments are very detailed and beautiful. the soundtrack is fantastic and makes playing these levels even more enjoyable. and the story is very touching to me personally as someone who struggles with depression.

there's just one thing that really annoys me about the game, and it's the cassette tapes. there's hidden cassette tapes in each level, and if you find one it lets you play the "B-Side" of the level, which is like an expert difficulty remix of the normal level. these levels range from challenging but still fun, to gauntlets that will take you hours to complete. that's not the problem though, the problem is that you need to complete at least 4 of these B-Sides in order to unlock Levels 8 and 9, which add over 10 hours of additional content and also continue the main story.

overall though, i can't recommend this game enough if you're a fan of platformers.

a beautiful and thought provoking story of an abstract game developer and artist. this is not really a game, but an experience and a piece of art. if you want to play through an interactive, complex and meta story, this is something that you'd probably enjoy. if you've played the Stanley Parable, and would like to see something in a similar vein (albeit not humorous), here you go.

my only problem with the game is the price. i'll admit i'm being a little bit cheap - but for me, paying $10 dollars for a game that only lasts about an hour and a half, that you probably will never play again, is a bit of a tough sell considering how many other great games there are on Steam at that price. i would just say, if it's on sale, buy it.

oh, and also the soundtrack is very nice.
