Worst Civilization ever. This game has nothing of the preview games in terms of immersion, replayability and the feeling of actually being able to change something.
If you are completely new to Civilization you might enjoy this game. If you enjoyed Civ V or IV or earlier games, this will most likely not be for you.
The 'expansion' is more like a needed feature upgrade and bugfix and should have been free.
I'm recommending buying Civ V + Expansions instead of this one or waiting for a real Civ VI.
