Always willing to try a demo...when the investment required is only temporal and not financial, its hard to resist.

Foremost, you must go into this with the understanding that it is the MOST abstract representation of ACW combat I have ever seen. That said, it does have an interesting system for representing command and control and ammo supply (if only for artillery). Few games adequately portray the challenges faced by an Army Commander, rather than just treating him as if he is a Division or Corps commander with more men. That said, I found this a concept worthy of development, rather than a fully realized game. The movement path system is far too "touchy"...it can be difficult to get units to march along roads, and far too easy to "slip" and wind up with unintended curves in the line of march. Since you can't issue a new order until the previous order is completed, prepare for frequent frantic stabs at the "cancel" button. But be aware (and Beware!) if you are not fast enough on the trigger, and the courier with your orders reaches the unit before you push "cancel", its too late!

For those who want to replay some of the largest battles ever fought in North America in 20-30 minutes, this game is perfect. For those who want a bit more detail, there are some excellent alternatives here on Steam. Having said that, if you are a war-gamer, I do recommend trying the Demo. As for spending money on the game? Wellllll....
