Early Access Review
Paranautical Activity is a game that combines Doom with Binding of Isaac. Which is a good concept in theory, but it's execution is disappointing. The problem is that it removes most of what makes Doom and other twitch fps so good. It misses cool weapons and enemies. Also the level design is bland. It's basically Binding of Isaacs boxes attached to each other where you clear a room to go to the next one until you find the floor exit. So no keycards and secrets. The room design is really bland. Same goes for the presentation. It's voxel style graphics just don't work for this game. Also the music is annoying. Hopefully in the future some company picks up the concept and does a good execution.

I don't wish they remove the Binding of Isaac elements. I wish that they make the doom elements better.
But if look at Sickbrick for example which is basically plays like a roquelike fps were they removed the roquelike elements. Only the Doom elements aren't just fun enough on their own. Tower of Guns does it a bit better on Doom elements(still could be better) and that makes it in my opinion more fun.

I'm very confused by your review. It reads more like, "It combines Doom with Binding of Isaac. Which is a good concept in theory, but I wish they'd take out the Binding of Isaac elements so I can just play Doom."

Ziggurat could possibly be something you'd enjoy (if you haven't already checked it out).

It would be interesting to have keycards and routes in Tower of Guns, but I'll say that game does well with weapon variety and music. The level generation isn't massively random, but it's interesting to see secret rooms come and go in every playthrough. I'd recommend checking it out.
