It's been established that I like mystery adventure type games. And Detective Grimoire is just that, except maybe geared towards a younger audience. This is a bit different from what I'm accustomed playing because it lacks all the climax and thoughtful moments but who says all games have to be deep. Some can just be good fun. Would I recommend this to someone who enjoys a deep meaningful multi-layered, mind melting journey? Probably not. However, if they have a kid under the age of 14, just to give a grounded figure; I'd say this is one of the child friendly adventure games a kid can play.

I consider this a bit like the Professor Layton games, except very lite on the puzzle aspect. The game even makes a quip about the guy with the tall hat. Story wise you're looking at maybe 2 hours of murder mystery. Your main goal is to uncover as much information as possible by talking to people and finding clues. And while I didn't feel that much invested in the story it wasn't super easy to figure out who did it until nearing the very end. Finding the murderer took actual reading and thinking, which was good. There wasn't so much detail that you'd forget what you had to do.

The side puzzles were simple and sometimes Grimoire would go into what I'll call "create a sentence" mode. These were the main parts I had to really think about what clue I was trying to uncover or put together. In the end though it was a fun little game and as I said very family friendly so I'd definitely recommend it for younger gamers.
