3:24 AM - spanker: "Gym"
The word appeared on screen, dimly flickering in the glow of spanker's aging CRT. For a moment it seemed as if the world had fallen apart around him, it's pieces falling away leaving nothing left but spanker and a computer screen, sitting alone in an inky void.
His thoughts fluttered back to all the time that he had spent with LinkAy. The shift that this stranger had made from teammate, to mentor, to idol. LinkAy had guided him, taught him everything, and made him a better person. He felt connected to this person like he had to none other in so very long.
Spanker snapped back to his senses. He inhaled fighting to calm his beating heart. This isn't the first time he had faced heartbreak, why should this time be any different? He scolded himself for being stupid enough to allow himself to be hurt again, and fought back the tears with a practiced discipline.
He forced his lips into a weak smile and typed back a cheerful response. It would take some time to heal the wound he had sustained, to fill the aching pit that now lie in his chest, but luckily, time was the only thing that he had left.
