You're right about a having good control and support but that's on staves only from it's aoe abilities, and support skills on extremely long cooldowns. Condition removal comes from traiting for support and the odd water skill 5 on various weapons. Top sustained dps with any of the weapons is debatable but in normal PvE and specific encounters in PvP that don't last very long, burst dps becomes the dominating factor and that's something even DD lacks contrary to Anet's own description of the elementalist. Lack of burst coupled with half our traits working with only 1 attunement and the necessary arcane/water/earth traits shoehorns elementalists into a support role and rejects the original GW2 design philosophy. I have faith they'll fix this eventually though.
best linear SP game ever, and also redeems Rockstar's reputation on PC
