Major online lag, lack of story and a feeling that there should be more content other than the massive amount of characters keeps this game from being more than ok to the general public. I can already tell you I only love this game because of the Naruto part of it. The Ninja World Tournament mode and Mecha Naruto story were both short, had a small amount of fights, and weren't too intresting. The ninja escapades (OVAs) had very few fights across the three, but I suppose that makes sense. They should've really just been extras you could've unlocked, like the ultimate jutsu videos. They had a nice story though...despite lasting around 40 minuets for all 3 combined.
The actual combat featured in the game is extremley simple but fun in my opinon. If you like hitting the same few buttons in same manner for each character, you'll find the game fun. Don't go looking for Tekken or BlazBlue levels of complexity levels here. The character roster spans over 100 characters, but each plays exactly like each other with few differences. For example, one combo might send the reciever farther into the air than another character, but it won't make too much of a difference. The only major difference between each character is their jutsu and it doesn't help too much to differentiate every character that well. "Why should I play as Asuma instead of Mecha-Naruto? They're exactly the same for almost everything but one move." Online is very, very laggy, and you shouldn't play this game for the online, just the offline.
I thought the game's anime style is beautiful, despite having looked exactly the same since Naruto: Ultimate Ninja STORM on PS3 way back when. They really don't need to change it because it looks just like it is a 3D anime, which is what the game is aiming for.
In conclusion: Don't get it unless you like Naruto, or have had a run through a demo. Wait for a sale on it if you're on the fence. I would recommend this to my friends because I enjoy it, but THEY might not enjoy it as much as me unless they like Naruto as well. Stay safe with this one.

Finally, just so everyone knows I've pretty much "beat" this game: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=318504270
