[Tips] Bonesaw, Amputator, and The Famous, Ubersaw
Today i will be reviewing the Medic's melee weapons and when to use them.

Lets start with the Bonesaw. The bonesaw is good for situations such as, you are stuck deep in enemy lines and the person you healed is dead. Let's say that your teammate that you were healing damages them quite a bit. You can use this to your advatage with the Bonesaw. The quick swing of the Bonesaw can help if a Scout passes by quickly or a Sniper goes in with his melee. Now, Lets get to the Amputator.

The Amputator is excellent if you are in a group of people who are low on health. Just press G, and you will heal your teammates instead of having to heal. The reason I press G instead of healing them, is because i dont want to risk somebody coming and taking half of the group down. As a result, the Amputator is works amazing in groups of teammates.

The amazing, the famous, Ubersaw. People love the Ubersaw because it obviously, gets you uber in a hit of a player. When the player is hit, you get 25% uber which can be handy if there is sentries and you need a quick uber. I would like to add some stats about the Ubersaw:

-Taunting with the Ubersaw equipped will perform the Spinal Tap kill taunt. A successful kill with this taunt will give a Medic 100% ÜberCharge.
-However, killing a disguised Spy will only award 50%. (https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Ubersaw)

-The Ubersaw will NOT build uber when you hit an enemy who is ubered.
-The Ubersaw will build 50% uber when you taunt kill an enemy who is ubered, but it will not kill the enemy of course.
-The Ubersaw will build uber when you hit an enemy Scout who is under the effect of Bonk!.
-The Ubersaw will NOT build uber when you hit an enemy Spy who is in disguise or invisible.

From Your Friendly P.H.D,
The Medic

Ah, sorry. I was tired and not really in the writing mood, but somehow got myself to do it. Nor do i use the Ubersaw, i use the Bonesaw. I really did not look at the wiki for this, all of this was my knowledge about the weapons.

Let's talk melee weapons for a second...

Bonesaw (plus reskins): The Bonesaw is the Medic’s stock melee weapon. Like other standard melee weapons, it deals moderate damage, but there are some melee weapons which are strictly better than this weapon
  • Melee: 65
  • Critical: 195
  • Minicrit: 88
  • Attack intervals: 0.8s
  • Special: Completely standard melee weapon

Übersaw: The Übersaw is the most widely used medic melee in competitive TF2, because it allows medics to gain 25% uber from each saw. This puts their team at an immediate build advantage for their uber. It is often featured in fragmovies, as it is possible to save last by getting a kill with it and blocking the point with uber.
  • Melee: 65
  • Critical: 195
  • Minicrit: 88
  • Attack intervals: 0.96s
  • Special: Gives the Medic +25% ÜberCharge on hit. Non-lethal hits on disguised Spies don't add ÜberCharge. Taunting performs the Spinal Tap, which can fill a Medic's Übercharge meter if it hits an enemy.

Vita-Saw: The Vita-Saw preserves 19% of the Übercharge from a previous life and grant it onto the Medic when he respawns. This is not a scaled percentage, so dying with 19% Übercharge will provide 19% Übercharge on respawn. The Vita-Saw reduces the Medic's health by 10, to 140. This weapon is banned in all competitive leagues.
  • Melee: 65
  • Critical: 195
  • Minicrit: 88
  • Attack intervals: 0.8s
  • Special: While equipped, preserves ÜberCharge on death (caps at 19%).Reduces maximum health by 10, to 140.Maximum overheal reduced to 210 from 225.

Amputator: The Amputator was once a direct upgrade of the bonesaw, but has been patched and now has a 20% damage penalty. It gives +3 health per second when active and it also has a special taunt, which is an area-of-effect heal, which is useful when large numbers of teammates require heals. However, the taunt heals quite slowly. Of course when taunting the Medic is left with no movement for a number of seconds and the healing does not build ubercharge.
  • Melee: 52
  • Critical: 156
  • Minicrit: 71
  • Attack intervals: 0.8s
  • Special: Provides the Medicating Melody taunt. Provides an additional 3 health per tick of self-regeneration when active. -20% damage penality.

Solemn Vow: Due to the Solemn Vow's ability to view the enemy health points and ubercharge percentage, it is banned from most leagues. In highlander, the role it plays is not as important, as all information obtained could easily be discovered by a spy. Not only that, but it promotes the Medic being in the sightline of the other Medic. Not only is this dangerous, but promotes individual aggressive behavior, which often leads to death.
  • Melee: 65
  • Critical: 195
  • Minicrit: 88
  • Attack intervals: 0.8s
  • Special: Allows the Medic to see enemy health.

How do you even know all of this without going to the wiki?
Ribs May 2, 2015 @ 10:21am
Because i'm a competitive medic?

Oh. :l
Remington May 2, 2015 @ 12:22pm
Bonesaw is good, Amputator increase your survivality, Vita-saw allowed you to don't worry about pop, Solemn Vow is sneaky (you can see health like spy), and Ubersaw is useful.
^_^

Me too, the Vita-Saw is the one I used at the beginning of playing Medic. I had problems staying alive and saving my Ubers so this saw helped me alot.
Today I prefer other melees but I still like my Vita-Saw.
Ribs May 3, 2015 @ 6:09am
It's bad...
tk May 3, 2015 @ 7:27pm
Thank you. It's -10 health is just way too much for me. As Medic, sometimes you just get deep into the enemy team's base. If you're peppered with bullets and projectiles, It's better to pop the uber than drop it.
Ribs May 4, 2015 @ 12:00am
Ubersaw is the only saw, there is not alternative.

(As least, that's what i was told in comp)
Remington May 4, 2015 @ 8:56am
Ubersaw is an OP weapon, and kinda cheap... 25% per hit ? Really Valve ? For a ridiculous downside of a less attack speed ? After it's just my opinion, a lot of medics love this weapon, because it's useful, you can pop and save your teammates, but for me it's just like the axetinguisher before the nerf, useful but OP as hell.
tk May 4, 2015 @ 12:59pm
Should be a damage penalty instead.
