[GUIDE] Use SweetFX in Win 8.1
I see a lot of people complaining about win 8.1 not being compatible with SweetFX.
Well, there is a workaround for that. All you need to do is use Radeon Pro.

Radeon Pro is a graphics tuning program just like the Nvidia Control Panel.
Note: It doesnt matter if you have Nvidia or AMD, this will work .

So here is a short & SIMPLE guide. I expect you to know enough as I dont feel like providing every step and information.

-Download the latest Radeon Pro Program & Install.
-Get your SweetFX files .
Note: Recommend sweetfx v1.4 files
-Open up Radeon Pro and go to settings (one of the icons in the middle-top area) .
-Go to 'SweetFX Settings ' tab on the left.
-Check the box to enable SweetFX.
-Choose the SweetFX directory where the SweetFX files are located (Sweetfx folder,.dll files, presets/settings.txt etc),
-Optional : choose a hotkey to toggle it on/off in game.

Once you've added sweetfx into the program:
-Add profile (left box) and locate the game .exe file (Ex: bf4.exe , AC4BFsp.exe etc)
-In the box to the right is where you can edit all the settings.
-Go on SweetFX tab -> Check the box to enable sweetfx for that program.
-Mark the tweaks you want enabled and adjust values to your liking.
: If you want to use presets, download them (.txt file) and click import at the bottom.
or you can jsut simply look at the values and set it yourself.

NOTES:
-Right click the profile and click 'Apply Now' to ensure it's applied.
-If SweetFX doesnt work , run the program as admin by default.

THAT'S IT :D
Done!
_________

ALTERNATIVE: Been recently informed that Sweetfx+ eFx also works.

Thank you so much :)

Didn't work, I followed all the instructions, I clicked Apply Now and I tried running as admin but it just either says post-processing is not available or does nothing at all. I'm trying to use SweetFX 1.4 with Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2012. Any help?

Are you sure its v1.4 and you have latest ver. of radeonpro?
And try delete and re-add profile (and make sure its the correct .exe game file/path)

Yeah definitely 1.4, latest version, tried that and it still didn't work- I think I'm just going to wait until it's officially supported in Win 8.1

Might be the game doesnt support 1.3 idk. You can try.
And the devs of radeonpro arent even cosidering updating it for v1.5 very soon ,they said.

Oh I don't care about Radeon Pro, I'd rather not use it if I don't have to, I meant I'll just wait until SweetFX is supported in Win 8.1/DX11.2.

You don't need to use Radeon Pro to get SweetFX to work with Win 8.1 you can use SweetFX+eFX, here is the link for those interested.
I've included SweetFX for both Win8.1 x64 and Win8.1 x86, just install SweetFX like you normally would.

{LINK REMOVED}

JaeHyun, the reason SweetFX 1.5 doesn't work with Radeon Pro is Radeon Pro only supports SweetFX up to version 1.4.

Ahh ! Never heard of this one. Radeonpro was the most common alternative/temp fix mentioned by many people. But I guess this one is a simpler alternative.
I do like radeonpro tho. It comes with frap features (fps ,benchmark, screenshot etc) and all those tweaks you can do with it.
And its pretty lightweight...

I have a few questions though .
-Will this certainly work for all or at least most games ?
-WHich Sweetfx ver. is with that eFX f?
-Have you clarified if the effects show up in screenshots ? (like, manuallly pasting sweetfx files dont show up in steam screenshots ,radeonpro does).

Thanks

I've never been able to get the eFX injector to work properly on Windows 8.1 yet. It's an endless source of frustration to me and every time I look for a version of eFX there always seems to be files missing or just something absent from the package. Omni - do you have a link to a complete package of the eFX+SweetFX 1.5.1 package that you've used and tested yourself?

Have you tried radeonpro?
This one works flawlessly for me. And I use it to to display fps .
Pretty conveniant.
And I have profiels for many different games. Never encountered a problem yet.
Only time it doesnt work is when an MMO has a patcher/anti hack and blocks the program...

I'm using Radeonpro and SweetFX Configurator now, and that's giving me a more hit-than-miss ratio with most games. But some just won't budge; I can't get Bioshock Infinite, for instance, to register properly, and I couldn't get SweetFX to initalise in GRID 2 at all. Hence my interest in the eFX injector.

Already done the last two parts and that's had no effect. As for 1.4, I'm running 1.5.1 -- I can't even find a place to download version 1.4. Guru3D are only hosting a download for 1.5; Nexus Mods only have version 1.5 up as well.

Does anyone have a link to 1.4?

(by 1.5, I mean 1.5.1)
