Picks & Discussions for Far East game (Malchoir GM, Hellknightimp host) [Sat 7:30 AM UTC, 7:30 PM NZT]
Running from 0730 UTC - 1030 UTC Saturdays

This page will be for discussing phenotype picks etc. as well as discussing various FTL types. Remember to check (or head to) 'Rules and Q&A' if you have any questions. I will update this as we go along. This is all to get an idea of who wants to be who. I won't really expect much right now but moreso as we get closer to release date.

On that note, deadline for all this is May 12th!

If half the player base picks tropical worlds, they will obviously face far more competition for that type across the galaxy. Not going to stop anyone from doing so but just so people get an idea.

I will be playing as a reclusive nation hell bent on researching everything they can, as well as if I can find any pre FTL races near me I will be uplifting them and vassalising them as a dominion. Although I mainly will be staying out of conflicts if I can, If I am attacked I will fight like a bear. I also will immediately defend aganst end-game disasters when they happen

(This is based on my own Fantasy series)
The Falorien Empire rose from the ashes of the warring nation states of Kaluzarn. After the failed attempts to reunite the Kaluzarn Empire, the Falorien Council at the time petitioned the Emperor to finally go to war to stop the destruction of the south. In acceptance of this the Emperor Scythed south with his highly disciplined forces and crushed the myriad of Independent Petty Kings and City States on Kaluzarn after 52 years of War. Now that the Emperor has united the world and the Empires Scientists have discovered how to explore the galaxy, Faloria can finally take flight.

History of Nation: Although the names of our spiritual past remain thoughout our civilization, we have thrown off its rigid dogma and now we choose where the wind takes our spiderlings instead of "praying" for the best. We see now that all can be explained, and explained it will be, thourgh force if needed.

Summary of Current Leadership: Liznel was the first to question the Wind keepers, and in doing so lead our poeple down a path that freed us in both boby and mind.

Culture and Explanation of Ethos: Seeing the light as it were has made The Jacaha ravenous for any and all information. So much so that the use of force to gain more knowlegde has become almost second nature. Slowly and with purpose the Jacaha spread to the once "forbidden parts" of their Homeworld, no longer are their spiderlings thown to the wind without care. Spiderlings from all Jacahans are now garthered and only the best are allowed to ride the wind to their "place of testing". A practice that others find unsettling, but to Jacahans infanticide serves the gaining of knowlegde and use of resouces much better by ensuring only the strongest and smartest grow adulthood.

The Xetherot have dwelled on the desert planet of Cryn for almost 10,000 years, with various Xetheri Hive Kings and Queens battling it out to gain hold of the small collectives of resources, food and water. The convention of 6,734, establishing the Cryn Royal Adjudication Council from the Royal Hive Kings and Queens and the discovery of propelled ships expanded that warrant want and use of resources and Xethri lives to the asteroids and moons of the Cryn system. Where for once in the Xetheri history the Kings and Queens of Cryn worked in tandem in expanding the species outwards towards the stars, some of the more independent Kings and Queens believe that the hive mind of the royal family of Kryos is expanding its will over some of the smaller royal families of the Cryn Royal Adjudication Council. Nether the less the Xetherot species is expanding outwards, to take all the resources and gorge the word of Cryn with riches, untold knowledge and resources towards the hive Kings and Queens of the Cryn Royal Adjudication Council. Will your people stand in the way of technological might?

History:

The Harkin people are a proud, intelligent race... or so they would like others to believe. The fact of the matter is that they’ve been engulfed in religious and governmental turmoil since the fall of “Emperor Gonishin The Great,” the once was leader of one of the three large nations on their planet.

His rule was praised for strengthening ties between the once warring states, bringing the educational system to an all time high standard, and even seeing the construction of some of the first machine operated factories. Unfortunately, Gonishin wasn’t as pure as the earlier rulers to sit on the throne before him.

A year before his death, Gonishin enacted a law which greatly brought the nation’s religions operations within his grasp. They would pay taxes for the first time in over five hundred years, and the “Kin,” the religions authorities operating in the heart of the capital, would no longer be exempt from the law when carrying out such acts as witch hunting.

Quickly, the “High Kin,” the elders and leaders of the Kin, campaigned for the hearts and minds of the people. Using their immense wealth, the High Kin gathered an army of enraged zealots and common people. Hold up in his capital cities fortress, Gonishin met his demise while awaiting reinforcements to repel the invaders.

Most say the guards were overpowered, as there were too many zealots. But even to this day, in the darkest halls of the some of the city's more rundown districts, you can find still find books which claim conspiracy…

The High Kin took control of the nation, causing what the Harkin call, “The Drought.” The name stems from the water shortages after whole districts were set ablaze. All who didn’t support the High Kin’s claim of the throne were burned, along with all their belongings, including their own homes.

The surrounding nations took notice to the poor condition of the fallen great empire. Once an amazing trading partner, an alliance formed by Gonishin, the High Kin undid all his work by running their own economy into the ground. The two other states had to act, and soon.

War was declared five days after the “Summit of Claim,” where the all three states were supposed to discuss the High Kin’s validity to the throne. The High Kin didn’t show.

Pooling their resources, the High Kin were beaten in a year’s time, finding that all the money in the world means nothing if everybody is hungry, sick, or dead…

The two states, seeing the capability of their combined militaries, merged their republics to form one giant nation with Gonishin’s former empire as a mere vassal. The Harkin Commonwealth formed...

In the decades to come, and with the invention of the internet, the republic was soon dissolved into a “People’s Government,” but the vassalized people of the fallen empire were not able to vote, and were generally treated as second class citizens.

Coming to the present, what government there still is closely monitors education and engineering, “allowing” the best minds to move up in the Commonwealth's ever growing military.

Summary of Nation: A vast hivemind that comprises all members of the empire.

History of Nation: Grown from amoebic life that congregates to form larger beings, the Apex were the dominant life on their homeworld. Mostly mobile drones, the drones can congregate to form immobile intelligences that command the drones. Eventually all life except the Apex were driven to extinction. Then ClearFelledForest (The Apex intelligences are identified only by where their main congregation is located) wiped out all the other Apex intelligences, and became the sole intelligence of their species.

Summary of Current Leadership: There is only one intelligence commanding the empire, the eponymous ClearFelledForest. All other leadership is comprised of lesser brain congregations detached to handle a specific task. This however risks divergence.

Culture and Explanation of Ethos: ClearFelledForest, as a single collective intelligence, has little regard for other life, considering all other life as a competitior, thus his callous disregard for other life is repugnant, as well as xenophobic. It can however see the need to modify life it captures so as to make it serve it. There can only be one life in the universe, and that is to be ClearFelledForest. Being what is basically pure intelligence and comprised of countless brains it is a quick learner. As all its brains are linked divergence is slow and all Apex life conforms to its demands.

Fungoid Union is the collective name for several fungoid races. Thousand of years ago they already reached the stars and established colonies in neghboring systems. They used to be a peacuful and friendly species. And they were almost completely destroyed by unknown enemy. Only one small colony survived, hiding under the surface of Mycota planet. But that was centuries ago. Today Fungoid Union is ready to crusade against the galaxy to find out who was that cruel attacker.
