L4D2 Boycott
Moving Forward.
It's no surprise that the Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott (L4D2 Boycott) has already reached over 5,000 members. We are all quite disappointed in Valve with their decision to launch L4D2 so soon after the original release of L4D1. The chat room has become full of people voicing their opinions on this.
However, to simply talk about the release of L4D2 and the issues we have with it are not enough—it is only half the battle. A storm of words without action is no more potent in its ability to move our cause forward or make our goals happen. It is time we took some action as a community.
In order for people to join our cause they need to be informed. If you have friends, or know anyone interested in buying L4D2, try to explain to them why you're not going to be buying L4D2. This is especially helpful with our friends who already own L4D, and are considering buying L4D2 when it comes out. By spreading the word we make our community bigger and our message stronger. If we can each get a few people to commit to not buying L4D2, then we'll be three times as strong.
Does this mean we should pressure people and yell at them if they want to buy L4D2? No. We need to conduct ourselves in a professional manner if we want to represent the community well. Respect the position of those who want to buy L4D2, but disagree respectfully with their views.
Tip: Another great way to get people to pay attention to the cause is to use a L4D2 Boycott spray in L4D games. A spray is a great option since it doesn't disrupt game play and sends a clear message of support for the community. If anyone asks what it’s about, please link them to our group.

Being professional, or trying to look that way is not radical enough. We all rage because of l4d2 and we should not calmly sit down and talk it over as some conservative jerks. Because debate, does not solve anything.
Chet has asked for feedback in the ars technica interview, so I think emails, etc (maybe with a cc to Gabe) are absolutely appropriate. Please be polite, concise and considerate.
Agree that this is a well said statement. I know Gabe reads all his email so feel free to email him with concerns. I don't think we will be able to stop this but HOPEFULLY we can get Valve to realize what they are doing and to NEVER WORK WITH EA AGAIN. Worst publishers of ALL TIME :(
I'm completely in. Any suggestions about perhaps writing to Valve or EA like 7h3scr011 has so thoughtfully brought up?
