Though you still need to use -enable_addons to see custom spell icons for some reason.
Put the contents of the sabermod folder in your dota 2 beta directory (not the dota directoy that is inside this one). It should ask you to override gameinfo.txt, confirm.
Also set enable_addons in your launch options

It should (not 100% sure tho) update safe, so you don't have to redo it on each dota patch.
When you use Dota2slasher like in the video you have to validate your dota to remove the mods and also they will most likely get overriden in case of an update.
