A Steam skin modifies the default style of the client (to varying degrees).

I was using it but switched back after a while. Although it looks nice, it hides the latest achievements on the in-game overlay :(.

Well I don't care about that but it says you can customize it like crazy. I havn't tried though.

I managed to customise the settings menu and remove ones I had no use for :). Other than that I didn't mess with it because it was close enough to perfect as it was ;)

Yeah I thought so too. I would like the download bar at the bottom to be there and wouldn't mind the in game achievements; but I'm not gonna mess with it. If this is possible though, someone let me know. Thanks!

I remember when the first versions of Steam had default themes, I used to like the green default Steam skin. Anyway, nice metro theme.
