Dota 2 nowhere near fluent for Mac
Hey forum,

Currently I am using a MacBook Pro 15 Inch : Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
CPU : Intel Core i7 Quad Core 2,3 GHZ
Memory Ram 4 GB
Graphic Card : Intel HD Graphics 4000 and NVIDIA
GeForce GT 650M 512 MB

Dota 2 is running in slowmo even on the lowest possible video settings.
Even made sure Dota 2 is using the secondary Geforce Graphiccard but no luck there, still nothing.

Any ideas? Or other who experience the same problem?

Same laptop, same problems for me. I actually was able to play last night on lowest settings. I've been scouring the internet for any clues as to which of the settings to keep turned off so I can bump up as much as I can. Also, I'm able to spectate at 60 fps with graphics maxed out... its only when I go to play with graphics maxed out that it gets laggy. I'd love to learn more if you come across anything.

I'm in the same boat... lowest graphic settings and it's playable, but still a bit choppy and definitely ugly! What gives?

As suspected. They suck at MacOS programming. Still remember that the boomjame lol unoffical Beta worked better than the Riot offical Beta. makes you wonder.

sounds fishy, since you dont have a graphic processing Unit in an macbook air and it would make running a game like dota on standart setting nowhere near fluent. Thats if you regard your softwhare. What OS are you using MountainLion?

there are a lot of updates for DotA 2. Try verifing the local content. Might not do anything but worth a shot.

How did you make sure it was using the nvidia graphics??
Hegel 16. sep. 2013 kl. 8.27
you can configurate it. normally it switches from intel hd graphic to nvidia graphic. Go to APple system on the left click on about this mac then go more info. it will show you which graphic you are using at the moment. start the game and check it.

I actually had that issue before (thinking my macbook wasn't recognising my graphics card and prioritising HD graphics) but I did muslimjihad's suggestion and found it worked, in "Power Saver" it just had been configured to use HD graphics 4000 when not running games.

This COULD be your issue, but I'd be surprised if OSX isn't putting your geforce in when running a game. FTR I have the same macbook pro (but with 2.6ghz and 1gb of graphics card ram) and it runs dota fine.

I made sure it is using the right graphic card, but not fluent.
