Mac OS X 10.10 DP3 reports "Steam is damaged and can't be opened." after doing fresh install
Hi,
Is anyone else having this issue? I upgraded my MBP from 10.9.4 to 10.10 DP3 before installing Steam. After installing Steam 1.2, I get the message from the OS that "Steam is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the trash." I have already deleted it and reinstalled it and re-downloaded it from steampowered. Help is appreciated.

Try putting mavericks back on. 10.10 isnt out yet.

I am already aware that Steam works on 10.9.4 and that 10.10 is not GA yet. If I was interested in installing Steam on 10.9.4, I would have done so already. I am looking for solutions to getting Steam running on 10.10 DP3. Thanks.

Solved the problem. I had to clear extended attributes from the applications folder using the command "xattr -rc /Applications/Steam.app".

Are you on a Admin or Standard account on your Mac? I'd assume it's Admin, but you never know.

Is Steam installed in your Applications folder? If not, try putting it there.

Have you deleted your Steam Application Support folder? It may have some corrupted data, and wouldn't be deleted with the app itself.

If you have your firewall turned on, try turning it off, just for the download.

Not sure what else you can try, haven't seen that issue myself on 10.10.

I Had the same problem.
I downloaded Steam 10 times and it never worked. I downloaded it on my pc then put it on my iMac and then it installed.

Thank you! I had the same issue with DP4, and "xattr -rc /Applications/Steam.app" fixed it.

I guess I should have checked here. It also fixes it if you go into System Preferences, and under Security & Privacy change it to allow applications from anywhere. Once you start the app you can turn it back to the way it was.
