I wanna tell you about my day. Signed, Odysseus.
Yesterday, a few people posted links to rare articles about a few games. I compiled all those to one convenient archive download.

Today:

  • One of the guys contacted me with an updated version of one document. Downside: Some pages missing. I'm still waiting for those. (Can't edit PDFs.)

  • Rather randomly, I visited my archive download link with Chrome instead of Firefox which I use 99.9% of the time. Was irritated to see 5 instead of 1 download button. Found out that 4 of them lead to a download with similar name (Imitated, not random.) on a different site. A rar archive with an exe inside. http://virustotal.com had 10/55 hits!

  • Made new version of archive with the above mentioned document (aka some missing pages) and some small optimizations. Uploaded to about 5 different sites, all of which (except the last) were either doing similar crap or were hard to use. Must have tried overall 8 sites (but not uploaded everywhere). Found one that is kind of ok. FINALLY.

  • Edited all my posts across 2 sites with new link and also malware warning regarding old link.

  • Tried to report the malware site to Google. But the report form kept giving me "Your client has issued a malformed or illegal request." (error 400) even if I considerably shortened my report. Ended up reporting the report form via the report form, because that worked. Then abused the search result Feedback function to report the report form again, included the full report I originally wanted to send. Btw., the report contains a link to the password-zipped version (PW is in report.) of the malware archive that the crap-site had given me. Uploaded to the crap-site! :D

  • Went to the Google sub on Reddit, tried to report the broken malicious site report form. Typing The Headline Gave Me A Headache Because It Automatically Formatted Like This. (Thankfully, the resulting posts are not like this.) Clicked the "SUBMIT" button - the text "submitting ..." showed up for the fraction of a second, nothing else happened, no matter how often I clicked. Made a second post in a new tab, copied all text in, no change :(

  • Made a post in that sub about the broken submit form (capitalization and non-functionality), which worked. Astoundingly. Later realized that I could try to make a short post, then edit my whole intended text in. Edited that very thought into the post. Then made that post - wow, that even worked!

  • Tried to make a 2nd edit to broken-/r/Google-submit form, but in the editor, I only saw the original text, not my 1st edit. Reloading didn't help. Had to open the link in a new tab to make the 2nd edit properly.

  • That one guy contacted me again with an updated file, I remade the archive, uploaded it, and updated all links. If I had known of this odyssey in advance, I wouldn't have done it.

So much for now. It's only noon.
