Need advice on PCIe SATAIII controller for SSD on ASUS P5N-D with W8
My board does not have the AHCI functions to utilize an SSD properly and this is the first time really messing with one...

Any ideas on a controller that is compatible? I don't have a lot to spend on one but want something decent.

Preferably from Newegg, if possible...

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

just use the sata2 port on the board
it will not go much faster with a satta3 controller card, since it will be slowed by the 775 cpu/board anyway

Except that method only gets you about half of the possible speed because of the chipset. I just need to find the right controller... or there is really no point in doing this. My box boots up in about 30 secs now and it rarely gets turned off.

Without a proper AHCI controller (and with a terrible chipset), an SSD will only transfer at about SATA1 speeds.
