Although I don't think it looks like a disorganized and dirty room right now.
And they'd have to tell us how often a thread has been viewed so far, for starters.
with more random necro's from players "trying" to get the badge.
There are already sections to spread things out, hardware, help, vac and so on.
Or you could just check the newest posted thread in the section which is at the top or check threads with 0 posts.
This would generally just favor certain threads and leave most others to die rather quickly. It might also be reviving threads that are done because they have just gotten a lot of traffic.
I think what you want is a Reddit style of these forums and that is most likely not gonna happen.
Each forum section shows the topic with the newest post in at the top. So the further back you go the older it gets. It's the normal style for most discussion boards.
The reason for subsections is because in game forums you can add sections like "Bugs" "Help and Tips" and others to split up the forum posts a bit. Rather than one large section.
This feature is controlled by the Developer though and most of them ignore the discussion part. Which isn't all that good.
The main board certainly isn't the most organized and may benefit from a reorganisation, but I'm not a fan of the "most recent" and "most viewed" whole subsections.
If anything, rather than additions, I'd rather see the main sections and the official groups be reorganized properly instead (and the language-specific boards expanded to the English ones, this being a pet peeve of mine).
Well whatever will make the Steam discussion boards more organized will help. For me, at least these discussion boards on Steam give me a huge headache to go through.
There must be something Valve can do to make these discussion boards better.
But the Steam forums with all the odds & ends, bits & pieces, rants & whatsnot? No need imo.
But yeah, organizing the forums better would be nice, totally agree!
a sub section with big popular discussions would be nice so they dont get bumped down by new posts
and polls would be nice...
steam should have a ton of polls to gather feedback so valve can get a better idea of what people think of this n that... now its all about whoever screams the loudest and spams the most gets the most attention lol
