Stop Steam from temporily putting games in my library
Is there a setting somewhere so that I stop seeing games temporarily appear in my library? They show up and you can have them for 2-3 days and they hope that you buy the game when the time is up.

Ok I get that it's working correctly and that this isn't an error. I don't want advertising in my library of games. Is there a setting to not recieve games for free weekend?

It's not free it's ads.

Agreed, I view the extra games in my library as ads

What you CAN do is use categories to categorize your games, then any "free" game will show up in the default "Games" group at the bottom. Even if you just create one category for all of your games.

Set up catigory's for your games, and the one's that steam have trials on will be in the "games" catigory.

True, it is advertising. And while it may be "free", it really isn't because the game isn't on my computer locally; I have to download it, which takes forever because I don't have a great internet connection. I'd love the option to disable this.

Anyway, what you can do is view in your library what you have installed instead of the default "All Games" screen. Then they're gone. Although I must admit, it is more convenient to just view your library regularly. I rather enjoy the times between "free to play weekends".

agreed, these "free" games should show up on the store screen not the library screen, gets on my tits too when i look for my games and find a ramdom load of old toot there instead. steam - remove ..

Do as Rale suggested …

• Create a new category (i.e. My Games) and move all your games to this folder.
• Keep the default Games category closed

I don't want categories I just want free weekends not to show in the library. I setup a steam account for my young daughter, the only games on the account are kids games I have approved. I don't really want saints row (as an example as this weekend it's free) to suddenly show up in her games library.

I only want the games I install to be there.

Even broken into categories they would still be on the screen and launch-able.

Come on steam you have a family friendly games genre how about family friendly games library settings.

What you could do is "hide this game in library" :) hope this helps
(just right click it in library and select etc...)

how does that help, it does not stop the games from being there in the first place.
