How can i opt out of steam beta?

Steam updated this morning and keeps closing itself up. If i read other topics it is a beta problem. How can i opt out from it without steam launched (as i can't, obviously, go to the options menu) ? Or does anyone have any idea of how mch time will it take to be fixed?

Top left of your steam window - Steam>Settings>Account. There's an option to change beta participations at the bottom of the page.

if steam client refuses to launch, simple create a shortcut to steam.exe and add -clearbeta

Right click on the shortcut, click properties.

Ex: "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -clearbeta

Hello there. now i have the same problem. been away for a while.
it seams that the -clearbeta is not working for me. is there any other ways do remove it. i tried some of the offline thing also but steam will not start cos appearently he knows about update.
in steam bage there is some steam downloader or something like that.
is there able to get full installation files to download and setup and them it might work in offline mode?

i am out of ideas actually. pleae help

Noodles = my hero! Thanks a bunch. Now SC1 & SC3 work w/o that annoying "Failed to Start Game" Error!

Read about that "-clearbeta" thingy you should add to the steam.exe, but that didn't work. Opting-out of that - apparently - massively bugged Steam beta did the trick. It's rather hard to find though... not anymore.
