No winui.gcf
I am having trouble finding the winui.gcf to edit for the offline mode problems. I looked in the folder and nothing. I downloaded a .gcf editor and there is still nothing. What am I missing here?

The new Steam Bootstrapper doesn't use winui.gcf anymore.
That's part of the ongoing transition to SteamPipe which completely removes the use of .gcf files.

What are you talking about? Now the files aren't in strange larger files. They're just in the hard drive.

The reason people are saying to edit winui.gcf is because there was a problem where Steam would have trouble accessing it, and block access to Offline Mode. Now Steam doesn't use it, that particular class of problem can't happen any more. It's a good thing.

How bizarre, another one of these "offline issue" threads ?

Anyway, you knocked at the right door. The quality of support for users problems (because of course, your problem is not coming from the last update) is such, that you will even tell your friends about it.

P.S. : anytime i need to log in this forum, i must enter a code, because it tells me that i log from a "new" (home PC with one year steam) computer. It's hours & hours of fun. This is really great, my good sirs of steam !

Is there any chance to manualy put in account credentials in my team dirrectory so it let me in offline mode?

The best way to I think to fix it is just to stay online then pull the connection to the net. I have had it running for a few days with no issues.

Also I found some games don't need steam to be on at all. You can launch directly from the steamapps folder.
