Having Steam problems since the March 18th 2013 update
Let me just say Steam has functioned well for me until this last update. I can list off the various problems with it.

1. Though I click "save password" every single time I try to sign into Steam, it never saves it. It used to be set up on my system where it automatically signed me in when I booted my computer up.

2. None of my games that have "updates required" want to download the updates anymore.

3. Any games I did not have installed prior to the update refuse to install and just give me an error.

I have tried disabling my firewall and anti-virus and such to see if it makes a difference (closed Steam right after and restarted it, yet again having to enter password) to no avail. I'm wondering when this will be fixed and wondering if I'm the only one having these problems.

I'm having the same issues - happened out of the blue, noticed it last night. Any steam cloud game updates to 99% then fails to connect. Can't play anything... Troubleshot the crap out of my network, neither of my routers at fault, not protection software, not my connection. Tried as DMZ/DMZ off. Bypassed router entirely. Prior to troubleshooting the computer remained unused and unchanged since the previous tf2 session.

I'm getting one error after another, cant use offline mode because login info not stored when is. Being told ive never logged on this comp before when i have then being told im logged in on another comp when im not, then steam wont log me in, then it keeps crashing. something different happens almost every time i try to log in

my issue has been limited to updating the game then getting the connection error - TF2, CSS, and HL2DM are effected on my machine so far, CSS having just got the status "Update Paused" which seems to be the kiss of death.

yeah, that's another thing, every time I log on it does show as if it's my first time logging on steam on this computer. I'm really hoping they fix this ASAP.

I fixed it by clearing my automatic port forwarding - not sure how this fixed it but it does the trick. if you can't find port forwarding on your router a total reset to factory settings will clear it, you just have to set everything else back up *it seems to do with a table/file it keeps being full - in all cases a factory reset on the router should do it, just a pain.

I can't use offline mode either (with all the correct boxes checked and unchecked), which is stupid because I bought my offline singleplayer game in a real life store so no internet should have to be involved. I hope they fix this soon.

I also have to check my mail for a code every time I log in on the website because it's my "first time on this pc/ in this browser".

I can still play online, but I don't often have access to an internet connection.

Next time I'll check if an offline game uses Steam before I buy it :(

I had the same problem and this fixed it for me, YOU WILL need internet connection. maybe this will work for you too.

go to C: > Program Files (x86) > Steam

delete everything in the folder EXCEPT steamapps AND steam.exe (keep those 2).

launch steam.exe and will "refresh" > log in as usual.

See skyler I did that too originally and it didn't work either. It can't hurt of course, but on top of doing that, clear out your upnp settings on your router and hard reset everything. My desktop wasn't getting connected cause my router wasn't allowing steam to open ports it needs to operate.

Mine worked fine before teh update then i had to do all this, wondering if its Valves fault or just a wrong place wrong time.

Thanks, it seems to have worked for me, fingers crossed

Customer support said the same thing, exept that I should also keep the folder userdata. It didn't fix anyhting however for me.

so doing that didn't help? did you try the router suggestion that jesus mentioned? I just know that Clear Sky's suggestion worked for me. Wish I were able to help more, even I had to ask for help.

I'm having the same problem since last week's update. I tried the file delete/refresh procedure without success. Any other ideas?
