Steam won't save my options
This goes for all games and also for Steam itself.
I can switch the language, that option gets saved. But all other options are being ignored.
First of all I get auto logged in to the friends list when I start steam.
I opened the options panel, disabled the options, clicked "ok", but it didn't do any good. I still got logged on the next time Steam was launched. I repeated my actions, reopened the settings panel and saw that all changes I had made earlier were ignored.

Also I want to disable the ingame community stuff. Also this is not possible.
I tried to set the option for single games, also these games ignored my choices.

What is this about?
What do I need to change in the vdf files so I won't get connected to the friends list and to turn off the ingame community stuff?

I'm having the same problem, can't set launch options or any other settings, it allows me to enter them but they do not save :(

I had to do it the hard way: I uninstalled Steam and deleted all property files. After that however Steam would not recognize any installed games so I had to download/reinstall the whole bunch again. But at least then it worked again.
