Steam Crashes on Startup (Windows 7 / 64-bit)
Hey guiz. The title of this thread pretty much sums it up. I've been on multiple threads just to find myself hitting multiple dead ends. I tried uninstalling and re-installing twice from control panel and once manually. I need as much help I can get, Summer Sale just conveniently started. :\

Any more information you can provide me? For example any error message?

No errors whatsoever, from Windows or otherwise. What happens now, after I reinstalled steam, is that it gives me the login screen (I know this is Mac, but it's the only picture I can find) [cdn.tutsplus.com] so I click "Login to an existing account" and after I login, Steam displays the "Updating Steam Information" screen then the "Connecting to Steam account: <Username>" screen, then abruptly crashes. Before the reinstall, it ONLY showed the "Connecting to Steam account: <Username>" screen before crashing.

If you have any .log files from the crash they would be useful in helping us figure out what is going on as we cannot help you without it.

EDIT: For log check in your Steam folders.

It seems to me like a corrupted Steam. To fix this you can delete everything in your Steam folder BUT! Your SteamApps and Steam.exe, Steam should reinstall.
Well, here's the debug.log:
[0620/222832:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(417)] Failed to load C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\chrome.pak Some features may not be available. [0620/223710:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(417)] Failed to load C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\chrome.pak Some features may not be available. [0620/223737:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(417)] Failed to load C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\chrome.pak Some features may not be available.

Thanks for the log, you might want to try these steps.

1) Navigate to your Steam folder

2) Delete everything except:
Steam.exe
SteamApps folder
userdata folder

3) Move your SteamApps and userdata folders to a new, temporary location.

4) Use the Steam Installer to "Repair" your steam install. It should replace the files.

5) Fully launch Steam. It should launch successfully. None of your Games will show installed

6) Quit Steam make sure you fully exit..

7) Move your SteamApps and userdata folders back to your Steam folder, overwrite any files found.

8) Start Steam.

Also if you haven't tried this already please do cause sometime other applications running on the background. Disabling Background Applications.

Some features may not be available. - is not related to the problem
Do you have other errors in debug.log?

2 use /flushconfig instead - it not affect on SG activation, not delete user files

3 OS? Background Apps? Antivirus? Visual C++ x86 x64 2010, 2012? .Net Framework 3.x?
Video driver version?

bootstrap_log, connection_log, cloud_log - more important

Hey guys, i have also a slight problem.
I run a Windows 7 32bit on my Mac OS X Mountain Lion (thanks to bootcamp) and i almost had gmod for a year. i had the same crashing problem but slightly different. When i run gmod i have the main menu screen up, but every gmod game i play, i have to wait a minute till it unfreezes. when it unfreezes it crashes. Anyone know how to fix this stupid problem?

Also heres my specifications (sorry, i don't know much about it and what's in it)
Window 7/32bit
ATI Radeon 7600 Series

If you are still having problems even though trying out my or Seven7 method. You might want to do is check your internet connection settings Troubleshooting Network Connectivity Or this for general troubleshooting - Windows Vista, 7 and 8 Troubleshooting.

These are just a common steps you can try but as Seven7 said, bootstrap_log, connection_log, is more important.

My Steam crashes sometimes at startup. But the second try works every time. Win 7 64 bit. No idea why but it works fine at the second startup. No automatic start. Only manual activation.
Kay den, something here is not working. Prolly my own computer, not Steam itself. Most likely. Anyways, thanks for all the help, for those who have.
