F2P games and demos are currently unavailable for download due to the installation package information being deleted from the central Steam database. There has been no announcement or ETA for a fix, but this has been happening frequently the last week and downtime appears to be about 6 hours between 6PM GMT and 12AM GMT. Contact Steam support if you are encountering issues with downloading these games.

This is not an official announcement, it's just to help the many people looking for a solution.

thanks for the info! i've wasted 2 hours trying to fix this problem (delete cache, reinstall steam, delete local files, verify game files) and nothing's work, now i have to download all~ of my games, thanks to almighty steam. :'(

I wouldn't expect anything to change until about 12AM GMT. Based on what happened last week it may be some kind of automated process.

no problem. I just wish someone at Valve would explain what's going on... I'm sure some devs probably want to know why nobody is downloading their games during these times.
