it's not steam client, it's age check script on steam store - OP try bypass age rating
Avast do false positive each week, but people still used it

my Avast just started detecting Steam as a virus, too, after trying to check out Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition. Just said it couldn't connect and now I can't visit the store at all. The community tab stuff still works, though.

Guess we'll just have to add it to exceptions list. Really wierd though, since mine happened randomly. I didn't restart or update either Steam nor Avast. :P

Same about me. It just randomly said my shop page is infected.
