Well, that's quite strange. How long do people have to be inactive for them to get automatically booted from a group they wanted to be in? Does it say that someplace? If so, I've never heard of that...
Funny, as long as I've been on Steam, I didn't know that "Tuesday" was the dedicated maintenance day for Steam. This seems like it could be the answer.
