Patch problems with error 0X80072751 [Solved]

Just wanted to let everyone else know how I solved my problem with GFWL.

I could activate and log in to GFWL without problem, however when it discovered the update it would always fail so I couldn't play online.

A MS supporter pointed me to http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-gaming/gta4-gfwl-error-0x80072751-error-code-0x80072741/db61d268-4901-4d97-98ac-c1f517fdbdb9 I followed the solution in step one which was to reset TCP/IP then it worked.

Turns out for me it was a cisco vpn client that had changed values to a point where GFWL would not work, although now my VPN client for work doesn't function anymore, problem for after the holidays I guess :)
