Might not want to have re-created a copyrighted character...

Yeah what Dave said, they will delete it without warning.

I've started to report them myself, just because I'm getting sick of all these Hulks and Iron Mans. It's unoriginal as heck.

I came across a half dozen Supermans / Kal-Els today.

I usually leave those players be.

I won't help them (with missions, revives, etc.), but I won't wreck their fun time either.

I always thought it was red
It's poop brown. Or rust gold. Or rusty trombone gold. You pick. Last one is UrbanDictionaried, like 'taint bacon.'

everyone should play how they want to play, no one should prohibit you from playing the way you enjoy the game.

Marvel disagrees because they've sued Cryptic over it.
it's just that because of people reporting you, players have to hide with their costumes and use them in either instances, or when they';re alone. i for one never wear my iconic suits in ren or powerhouse, lol

If you do it like that, it's usually fine and there's no reason someone will report you. It's just that the people who do get reported, have no other costume and refuse to change to something else.

Well specifically, back in the CoX days Marvel sued Cryptic over the fact players could recreate Marvel characters using the costume creator.
Long story short the evidence Marvel put forward was shown to be made by them rather than other players so the case was dropped because they didn't bring forward evidence that players were actually making Marvel Characters.
In the end it left a bad taste in Cryptics mouth and they put in their ToS that you can use their character creator to make trademarked characters (Though they particularly pay attention to comic book characters). They rely primarily on reports for this and generally don't respond unless you check 2 of three boxes.

-Appearance
-Name
-Bio

But because they rely on reports and the majority of the playerbase enjoys a good parody/homage most people don't get defaulted unless they're blatantly copying the character.
my name and BIO is totally different, so i should be fine?

Yes, in that case, you SHOULD be fine.

Generally yeah. Even if you get reported, unless A LOT of people do it the GM probably won't bother. It'd be completly likely that it's just a "Halloween Outfit" which a lot of the RP community does.
I do it all the time with my RP toons
hahaha awsome then, my character is Jean, but she has totally different name as well as BIO. not even close to either Phoenix, jean herself or scott

It's "Sean Grey" (Sean can — for some reason — also be a girl's name. Thanx Obama).

At least you have the option for multiple costumes on one character. Some people (the FF slots) use alt-looks to determine their current build.
I made a elfy-looking, grey-skinned Viconia De Vir, but the costume is totally different (as is the powerset) and the bio is empty ( I think, I don't remember).

But I doubt Interplay or Wizards is going to raise a fuss about that. Besides, I haven't played her in years.
