I have a very annoying error, Please help
When I press play this pops up:

RavagedGame.exe - Bad Image
C:\Windows\system32\D3DCOMPILER_43.dll is either not designed to run on window or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the origanal installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendoe for support.

This happens on both Ravaged and Sleeping Dogs for me so it is more likely it is my fault than the games.

I'm running:
Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit
AMD FX 8120 eight-core processor
AMD Radeon HD 7670 2GB
16GB of DDR3 RAM
Microsoft Security Essentials

Thank you for reading.

directx / your GPU drivers.
use the 13.1 ati drivers not the beta.

What do you mean by direct x? I just put my GPU on 13.1 and I'm still getting the error

I think they meant to update your DirectX on your computer. Try to install or reinstall DirectX 11. I believe the Radeon HD 7670 2GB card is supposed to be DirectX enabled. If you have the original driver disk for the video card put it in your drive and cancel autorun. Then right click on the drive and click Open to view the files. Look for a folder called Resources or Redistribute. Open that folder and you should find a bunch of Direct X driver files. Use the find tool and you should be able to find Direct X 11's driver file. Then, go to the ATI or AMD video card drivers webpage and download the latest NON-Beta drivers or at least the ATI 13.1 drivers they discribed above.. Once you have them downloaded prepare to install them but before you do anything with your video drivers, shut off any antivirus program you are running. As in turn it completely off so it will not reload when you have to restart the computer after you install the video drivers. Otherwise the antivirus may block the video driver setup. Once you have shut off your antivirus program and turned off the run at boot up or start with Windows, to a test restart to make sure it does not reload. If it doesn't. Go ahead and run the video drivers installer and follow the prompts. Once it has finished and you have restarted the computer and you have finished the Direct X 11 reinstall/install you should be good to go. Wait to reactivate your antivirus until you try launching the game again. If it launches and you don't have the error message you should have it fixed. Check again after you reactivate your antivirus program and the start with Windows settings. If it errors out on you again then you will know there is something to do with your antivirus program which you will need to contact the support for the antivirus program to get it to stop messing with the game launcher/etc.. I hope all of this mudd helps. Good luck.

Just noted your antivirus program.. Support from MS should be able to walk you through how to tell the antivirus program to 'Ignore" your game exe file or to "Allow" it so that the antivirus will no longer interfere if that is what is happening.

Wow, thank you very much for the reply but I Sadly don't have the disk. Would I be able to go to Microsofts site and download Direct x there?

This is the reply I got from one of our devs:

"it's a broken DirectX installation that is at fault for that user. I would recommend uninstall + reinstall."

How do you do a uninstall + reintall without the driver disk?
I searched for it un youtube and google and could not find out how

if you google "Bad Image
C:\Windows\system32\D3DCOMPILER_43.dll " you will see that other games get that error too

so its not ravaged specific issue

http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=63152

verify game cache then if that does not work reinstall prerequisites then if that does not work first try renaming all bad files and reinstalling directx, try uninstalling your video drivers then run something to clean the registry like cccleaner (look for video driver install cleaner) and then restalling them and then reinstalling directx.

and if that does not work sadly from what ive read you have bad windows install, nothing will fix it, the only solution is to backup all your data files, uninstall any drm protected software (so you do not lose an install, think securerom, which requires to hunt down uninstall tools for each game). then after you have everything backed up and verified. reformat your disk, reinstall the os from scratch. reinstall all your application from script. apply all updates. restore you backed up data, no programs or anything that would harm the registry. now it should work
