Bad first impression

I am definitely not impressed with this game. I am only into the 2nd level, and am unable to continue due to a bug which somehow locks me in a fixed position and unable to move.

Not only that, some of the graphical settings got to be tweaked in order for my game to see the surrounding graphics, which will be black otherwise.

I am still trying to get cross that bug, and until then, I will be forever stuck at just the 2nd stage.

which settings resolved the black surroundings problem? Same problem here.

my anti virus alerted me q3map2.exe inside of the install directory is a virus, anyone else have the problem?
all my steam downloads have been good except this one, why?

Compress the file in to a ZIP file and password protect it with the password: virus

Then send it to your security software vendor and notify them that there software sucks. (Or let them know they are wrongly detecting the file as infected)

I think there isn't a virus in it,at least NOD32 didn't say anything,but for castle crashers,it said it has a virus...what is strange,that castle crashers didn't have a virus on my computer,but i use the same antivirus....

False positives are always an issue with anti-virus software, do as Nicholas Steel suggested, if you send the false positives to them, they can refine the software. That's how anti-virus software gets better.

Can you please be more specific when saying "I got into fixed position" and "black surroundings" ? :)
Screenshots, videos would help. Also, Shift + Esc to get console down, type:

condump my_issue.txt

and press Enter. Then locate that txt file in your My Docs\My Games\steelstorm\gamedata\ on WinXP (C:\Users\username\SavedGames\steelstorm\gamedata\ on Win Vista / 7) and pastebin ( www.pastebin.com ) it here. This way I can see what GPU and drivers you are using.

As far as virus, it's definitely anti-virus flase warning. When I deployed the game (and the Editor with q3map2 compiler) to Steam, I had Avira Free Edition. Recently I reinstalled OS and purchased Dr.Web Antivirus, which is a pretty good one, definitely much better than Avira. Just ran virus check on all executables of the game and there were no threats detected.

As for "all my steam downloads have been good except this one, why?", that's because most of the editors are in View > Tools section and you have to install those separately. I made it easier for modders and supplied editor with the game, so they wouldn't have to look for the modding tools.
