Game and DLC playthrough question!
Should I play the base game then buy the DLC later or should I buy the DLC now and play the base game+DLC?

Like, how much does the DLC affect the base game? Does it make it a totally new experience?

It enhances the game and plugs in with it. It also gives you a cool brand new gun with 3 completely different ammo types (its really like 3 brand new weapons) you can use through the rest of the game. The DLC's first mission is unlocked after the very first standard mission and as you progress through the main game you unlock new dlc missions. The story doesn't really tie into the main game, but its a neat side story. It also gives you a new house within a town in the game. Just gives you a place to see trophies you unlock during the game.

Personal recommendation: Get it with the main game.

Critical reception of the Rage DLC.

Player reviews are split but the each of the negative ones seems to be motivated by graphical issues.

Yeah DM is 150% correct the new gun is awesome also the girl is funny some of her comments I cannot believe that this game isn't up at the top of everyones list it has everything not just FPS and the difficulty levels are so good so complete beginners can play it mt view is if you are experianced at FPS dont play this game on the first 2 levels! I have seen some say oh I did this game in so many hours when to me its very clear they were set on one of the easy levels for newbies "MUTANT BASH TV" is hard work on ULTRA I am trying it on ULTRA NIGHTMARE OMG (my second or third time playing this great game lol) it gets tough some times but amazing fun and yes I am a FANBOY od anything id games produce I was hooked by DOOM 3 now I am hanging big time for DOOM 4 cant wait have fun with RAGE guys and great response DogMeat!

that's because the Scorchers missions were originally part of the base game, but it was cut out from the final release. which explains why it was put back in as a DLC

Gotta do it WITH the game for full effect, definitely. It adds a handful of missions that take you to places that otherwise would just look like doors that you can't open as you walk past them in the main game. You get a fun gun to play with (Try for headshots with the REBAR ammo!!). Plus you get a treasure room to check out, and a new lady friend.

The DLC blends seamlessly into the regular game, with its missions showing up as "optional" objectives for you to finish when you feel like it. There is no "activation" trigger needed, you just need to get halfway through the first camp with Dan Hagar. Then each DLC mission unlocks as you finish the previous one.
