Player reviews are split but the each of the negative ones seems to be motivated by graphical issues.
that's because the Scorchers missions were originally part of the base game, but it was cut out from the final release. which explains why it was put back in as a DLC
The DLC blends seamlessly into the regular game, with its missions showing up as "optional" objectives for you to finish when you feel like it. There is no "activation" trigger needed, you just need to get halfway through the first camp with Dan Hagar. Then each DLC mission unlocks as you finish the previous one.
