for the love of god someone help me find a useful tutorial!!
Just booted this game up and I am completely lost. The in-game "tutorial" videos raise more questions than they answer, and the manual appears to... not actually exist. There are so many other games out there whose developers actually *want* me to play their game why does this one actively obfuscate the game's controls? The game's website has a lovely press-kit but no actual help that I could find. Why is there no save key? Why does trying to hack everything make me die? How come the things that I dragged to the shortcut menu don't show up on the shortcut thingy when I press the "c" key ? What does "malus" mean? Do this game's programmers hate the players themselves or just hate the thought of people playing their game? What does "maintenance" do?

Unfortunately the developers dropped the ball on the tutorial so you have to learn most of it yourself. When developers actually post I noticed a lot of 'I cant say' for some reason.

No save key - the game saves often on its own - like when you take/deal damage it seems.

Hacking - Ugh. What a pain. Things you hack can hack you back because you're infested with cyber technology and they have defense programs. Basically, keep hitting 'Mask' until their attack power is 0, then keep hitting 'Overload' until your power minus their defense is enough to drain their 'hit points' then hit the 'Attack' button.

Shortcut menu - Seems to be a bug.

Malus = bad.

Maintenance - self systems check to repair a broken leg for example.

Yep, key mapping is confusing a bit in default settings. I can send you my mapping which is slightly better ;)

Maintenance can also heal you, if you're really low on hit points.

Anyway, this game greatly rewards player with both atmosphere and visual experience (I don't mean next-gen graphics, which this game apparently doesn't posses, but visual touch!).

I fail to see why you need tutorial....
Open options and look at controls. How hard is that? Why do people need their hand held so much. If current gaming gets any more hand holding... I think entire games will turn into movies, where you have a single key(GOD forbid it gets any more compicated then that) to pause movie.
And holy hell every stat/action has a short to the point description of what it does. Everything is explained if you actually bother to look.
Things that aren't explained well or misleading. Is hacking... read descriptions of each virus before you begin any of the different hacks.
And stealth is non-existant despite any claims of the opposite. Ai in this game doesn't care for collisions or LOS or sound or anything else. They have range at which they detect you and a flag that either lets them attack you or not. It doesn't matter if you are cloaked you are sill tagged into Ai targetting list as priority. As soon as you unclock, it doesn't matter that room consists of 1 federal, 1 looter, 1 meta creature. They will stop attacking each other and instatly switch to hammering you. If you cloak infront of someone and walk behind a wall, crawl through a shalf, jump over a wall... doesn't matter they will rush towards as long as they can find a pathing route.
Hell if you unbeliver... cloak and walk towards an enemy. Don't get close enough to get attack but close. As soon as you get close enough they will actively target and follow you. Even though you are too far to trigger attack.
Aside from those 2... everything either needs no explanation or you are simply not bothering to look.
Hovering mouse cursor over skill/action and reading what it does is hard apparently.
In action menu right clicking on any action assigns it to quick action menu. There are keys to access that menu from quick action or a key that directly accesses it. All cyber implants and psi powers can be key bound to a specific key.
Only actions that don't have a key in options w/o you tweaking config files yourself are: hacking, sentry and droid. Only 3.

Personally I loved that this game didnt give that much in the way of tutorials. it made u explore & learn the game. Self direction, experimentation, & wonderment. i love that. i know thats not 4 every1 of course.
@ HiSaZuL i agree w/ wat ur saying, but honestly it felt a bit harsh, like ur calling him stupid or something. Not that you were of course, but you are correct in that its not hard. I also 2nd w/ wat u said about the 3 powers not having a button mapping. I really wish they had it in the game where u can map hacking to a keyboard key. I have mapped 12 powers myself, as as i play i map more & more, & get better.
@Carlist Rieekan i agree that key mapping can be a bit difficult at 1st. the lvl of difficulty is pretty high when 1st starting out in this game. but i have 2 disagree on Graphics. I mean, i see nothing wrong, except for an occasional bug where i can see through walls and stuff. though i am not much of a graphics person, i just want the game to run and look at least ok like Nintendo 64 or Gamecube.

I could be your guide if we could connect to each other online co-op. Teaching in games is terrible in general right now.

I'm just going to leave this here: http://eyedivinecybermancy.wikia.com/wiki/E.Y.E:_Divine_Cybermancy_Wiki
Pretty useful resource - it helped me when I got stuck trying to understand the menus..
I just started playing this game yesterday and was in the same position. The tutorials are absolutely tedious and not really worth watching for most of them. The best experience is learning on your own, imo. I managed to find out quite a useful bit and now I really enjoy the game and am starting to love it.

The menus are really badly done, tbh. Infact I think this game could've improved in a lot of areas and I think the UI is far too complex, however I guess you can say that adds to the "challenge" or whatever.

Yeah, but I only have maybe an hour every day (2 or three on the weekends) for gaming anymore. I don't know why I'd spend 5 or 6 extra hours learning a game when there are so many other excellent games out there that I can just jump right in to.

Maybe because it's fun to play a game from time to time, that isn't derped down to please every 14yo on the planet that happens to own a console.Just a shot in the dark here

I fail to see how a game's documentation being nonexistent equates to it being "derped down". there are plenty of excellent games with deeply complex and compelling gameplay mechanics that have also figured out how to teach the game to new players. As an example: Dwarf Fortress. DF is often ranked as the most complicated video game ever (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/24/magazine/the-brilliance-of-dwarf-fortress.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0 and http://boingboing.net/2011/07/22/dwarf-fortress-perha.html) and yet it teaches the player how to play better than this pig. There is a wealth of documentation online from the programming team, and it's easy to navigate the in-game menus. I think you're confusing "derped down" with "helpful at all". I would be interested to learn why a game being popular automatically makes it less desireable to you though. Would you care to elaborate?

Yea because the game would be too easy if people actual knew how to play it.
Sundeiru 7 stycznia 2013 o 5:46
Is there something specific that people don't know how to do in this game?

No,judging from the rest of your post, you didn't quite get the message i wanted to transport.
The question was "Why should i spend time figuring it out on my own if there are games i can right jump into?" and the answer was "Follow the giant blinking yellow arrow, press Space, follow the arrow, watch the cutscene, shoot, rince & repeat" (which many FPS-Games have become to) sometimes just doesn`t cut it anymore.

I never said that. However,to give an example:If a game that is popular only offers linearity and strict gameplay,i might be in favor for a not so well known game of the same genre, that offers more variety and doesn't feel like it was made to please anyone.
The reason is not the popularity or the lack of it,its preference.

Again I fail to see how a game completely lacking documentation equates to the game being better. Perhaps I'm missing your point. I loved Dwarf Fortress and played it for years and it's significantly more complex than E.Y.E. but it has one significant difference: documentation. Having decent reference materials made learning it easy and fun. There are dozens (possibly hundreds) of excellent games out there as good as this one. Almost all of them will at least provide some way of learning how to perform the basic functions of the game. This one does not. I'm not talking about the CoDs and the Halos of the gaming world, I'm talking about good games with complex play strategies and interesting puzzles. For example the aforementioned Dwarf Fortress or VGA Planets or Demon's Souls or Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry 3 or Harpoon 3 or Hearts of Iron 2 or Homeworld or X3:Reunion or Dangerous Waters (the manual was 600 pages) or Disgaiea or Steel Battalion or Falcon 4 or Company of Heroes or Catherine or Valkyrie Profile(sp?) or GO or Eschaton or Sins of a Solar Empire or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or Europa Universalis or any CIV game or Masters of Orion III or Dragon Age or Skyrim or Rise of Legends or DCS: Black Shark (I think that was the title can't remember the whole thing) or ♥♥♥♥... even EVE Online. All of the games are extremely complex with deep thematic elements AND they help you learn how to play. Are you seriously telling me that Hearts of Iron is "derped down" and that this game is superior *because* it has no documentation? It sounds like that's what you're saying but it can't be. Either that or you're saying that since I can't be arsed to spend hours and hours learning this game I must only like simplistic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. That is not the case. I enjoy complex games a lot, I just like them to provide some avenue for acquiring the knowledge that I will need to play said game in a timely manner and with a minimum of wasted time. So I reiterate: If I only have a limited amount of time to play games why should I play one that makes learning the game difficult as opposed to one that doesn't? Especially since there ARE lots of games out there at least as good if not better than this one (that are NOT as you so blithely put it "derped down") that are MUCH easier to learn?

I forgot Evochron Mercenary, an extremely large and complex game with many differing playstyles and any number of different play styles. It is also easier to learn by an order of magnitude.
