mods are all over the internet for the non-BFG version of D3.
There aren't any mods for the BFG version yet.
You can look on moddb.com

that i know, but what i want to know is if they somehow patched the steam version of the D3 non-BFG to no longer support mods

I don't think the old d3 seen any patches/updates in years so it should definitely be mod-friendly considering it's still idtech 3 that all the mods were built for.

The old Doom 3 is very mod friendly. The main menu even has a tab that let's you access your mods straight up. Moddb should have a good number of mods for the game.

moddb has a lot of mods for regular doom 3

best mod is Perfect Doom 3 which practically makes it HD.Open Co-op gives it a campagin co op online which is pretty cool.

The only Doom 3 non-BFG mod I use is the PDA Locker Code mod available at this site. http://doom3.filefront.com/file/Cabinet_Locker_Codes;58396
