Underwhelming Performance... am I missing something?
Hey all!

So I just picked up a new laptop, i'm running windows 7, have a radeon hd 7970m, i7-3740qm, only 6 gb RAM but i plan to up that to 8 gb or 16gb soon. However, I can only run bioshock: infinite on very low smoothly. At higher settings, i get 40 or less fps, with only about 15 at very high.

Am I missing something? My specs seem at a glance to be way more than enough to get a better experience here, can someone tell me what the issue is? Could only having 6gb RAM possibly have anything to do with this? (I did set power settings to high performance, before anyone asks!)

Thanks very much in advance,
Darkk

No, 6GB of RAM is plenty for this game (I use 4GB and run at Ultra settings @ 60FPS+)

I would do a "clean install" of the latest WHQL (not BETA) AMD video drivers. I'm not sure how AMD implements it, but in Nvidia drivers, when we install, we can choose to custom install and then clean install in there... it wipes out any previous driver settings and puts everything at default.

That solution has worked for many Nvidia users with symptoms similar to what you're saying you have.
That's weird. Your system should have more than enough to run it.
What resolution?
it was running slowly even on 1280 x 720, I didn't bother trying the 1920 x 1080
gonna try out some stuff today, thanks all for the comments though, it seems that the specs are in fact good enough, and that something else is the issue
