I have redemption season, but no matter what I do it wont let me retrieve saves from the game. Any advice?

I have enjoyed this series since the start of the trilogy, but find that this two character thing is very badly done, as there is nothing to tell you when the character switches, unless you go into the stat screen and discover you can't access what information you want. It's annoying when the last in a series has a flaw like this...

Just a quick information: Both DLCs for this game are an outright scam. The Warning System often gives outright wrong information and the 'database' is more of a glorified, incomplete bunch of notes that has no impact on the game whatsoever. Also, the game can literally be played by just spamming the next button, as the 'changes' are too insignificant no matter what you pick....

If people already have their MeChip of Redemption season, do i need really need to upgrade for 9.0 even doing the same thing?
