Game closes after starting it.
Hey guys, my game closes right after starting it, don't know what to do, steam support is not even anwsering. Anyone have any idea of how to get game to work? Because currently it's in un-playable condition. Thanks!

At which point does the game actually crash? and do you get an error message? the first thing you can always do it reinstall it by deleting local content and re-downloading it.

Your problem is not the game i don't think but rather Windows live, make sure your GFWL Cilent is functioning properly and make sure your Windows update in working properly and 'Background Intelligent Transfer Serive' is showing in Services.msc (all found in All Programs). another thing is do you have speakers or headphones in your computer and are they running correctly? BSP will instantly crash if it does not detect a functioning sound line-output. this logic goes for all the Game's basic requirements, if one basic requirement is not met (keyboard, speakers, mouse, windows version) then the game will instantly crash - as stupid as it sounds some games are like that (usally older ones).

Game crashes about 5 seconds after i start game, sometimes I get to main menu and sometimes it crashes before main menu. There is no error messages. I have reinstalled it 3 times so far. About Windows Live Client - it asks for CD key before it crashes. "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" is showing in Service.msc and is running. I have Point Of View 5.1 USB Gaming Headset and it works without any problems. I will try running the game without my headset later to see if it makes a difference. Thank you for your time!

I had same or similar issue: I was able to enter the main menu, but when I tried to launch the mission, game crashed with no message.

In case you have the same issue, here is the SOLUTION:
- start the game main menu
- enter Options / Game
- change the language from "English (Authentic VO)" to "English"
- click on the Accept button
- quit the game and start it again, it will work fine

Very simple, but it took me two weeks to find it..

My game crashes while in main menu, sometimes even before main menu.

If your game is crashing before it even launches, i.e. appears to just do nothing and never load, it could be that your "game for windows live" is out of date. Manually update to the latest version of that via microsofts website and then try again.

Ok can you try using the windows event viewer to track down that specific error being thrown and paste that here? Try just having that event viewer open when you load the game and when it crashes, try to find the exact error under "Windows Logs -> Application" section (I'm guessing thats where it will end up, if it's not there look under other log folders)

Another quick thing you could try that I read caused problems, do a system search for "bsp.exe" and if you find any other apps named bsp.exe other than battlestations pacific post that here as well.

Title bsp.exe (1, 0, 0, 0) XLive 3.5.0092.0 (WGX_XLIVE_V3.05_RTM(panblder).110928-1730) C:\Windows\system32\xlive.dll
0x80151103

Other than install it's the only ones.

I'm not sure honestly. My best guess is GFWLive is still messing it up. I saw another user on the forum got it working by doing this:

"Okay, I finally got it working. I manually uninstalled both the GFWLive Redistributable and the GFWLive Client from the control panel, then installed the updated version. Works like a charm now."

I might try that later, but GTA 4 (retail version) works perfectly with GFWL.

i launch the game and it instantly crashes displaying the classic
">program name here< is not responding, windows is looking for a solution to the problem"
and remains like that until i close it
it does not even pull up the game window

Only thing I see is ask steam to return your money because game does not work and there is no official support for game anymore.
