This or Enemy Unknown?

I really want Enemy Unknown And I have this game, but I saw the HUD and it looks really intimidating. So should I get EU as a starter game to ease my self into the series?

I'd start with this one first actually, but you'd have to read the manual first and learn the interface. I think this game is far more enjoyable than 2012 EU.

Yeah Im still planning on getting EU but I just dont know wether to now play the original until after EU.

I play both at the same time. There might be some disagreement but when it comes to combat. xcom EU focuses more on minimizing the risk to try to keep all your soldiers alive. so thteres a lot of tension in a gunfight whether i made the right move or not. When that tension builds beyond what i can handle. i play x-com ufo defense because in there is no tension when a soldier dies because i bring 14 of them. and in that case it just becomes a all out battle to see who is left standing. which for me. is a lot of fun. except when the aliens are left standing. that totally sux.

I am finally starting to get the hang of the original and after getting some other games on my to do list Im going to get EU.

for the me original just has that epic battle feeling, so many units, large maps so much to explore so many things to keep track off, and you can go whichever way you want.

as where the new one is all squad based, rather small maps. limited strategy. but very pretty graphics that make you want to play. But in the end just a bit too linear and limited for my taste.
