Changing the language ?

Not possible, the only way to get the original version of the game is to ask a friend in another country to gift you the international version of the game. Germany sucks, we're still in the middle ages.

But i read in the I-Net something like that :Go to the steamfile and then steamapps
,go into Bioshock.In this file there is a data called "localisation "
And there you change german in AUSTRAIN or if you want english BRITAIN.
But i unfortunately cant find that one freking data.
I dont want believe that i just wasted 4,99 for a busted version of the game.

Sadly no, that doesn't work. The cuts will remain in place.

Yes i even cant find the data and when i changed something in an other data nothing happened.
Wether it was the language or the cuts all stayed the same.
Now i trying to cantact Steamsupport since i got false advertised.
I mean under the Bioshock 1 page stands big and in an orange box:
Low Violence: German low violence version only available with German language
and in the the right side are listed the apparently languages :German ,English ,Dzech and what else.
So i thought i can play in english and avoid the cuts even when i live in Germany.
Big WRONG.It doesnt allow you that as you already know.
And now i wastes 5 bucks for pretty much an busted version of the original game because steam lie to me at least in germany.
I now want my 5 bucks back or the original version ,i mean that not how i bet.
Hate to do this cause i actually like steam but thats just not okay and i cant suffer.

Its a rather late reply but in case anyone finds this thread before the other one have a look at this:

not sure wether it ups the violence as well but theres plenty of gore and I have my cutscenes in English now too.

...apart from the two main villain speeches, those i had to watch on youtube. but theyre pretty fast to find, just search for "bioshock death of (...enter the villains name here...)"
