DRM activation limit?
This game had a 3 activation limit. Has the activation limit been removed?

After asking around on a few forums it seems the limit is still in place.

Hello Folks,

the activation limit is removed from all TopWare games distributed via Steam.

Wait, really? That would be fantastic news!

TopWare's terrible broken DRM and activation system (that burns up its limited activations even when plugging in a simple USB headset) on top of Steam's DRM made me regret buying TopWare titles in the past and made me swear not to buy any ever again.

Are you sure this applies to all titles, I didn't see any of mine update ...

... or is the terrible, broken TopWare DRM still in place and only the server sided limits were removed?

Judging by the bemine groupees bundle that it is currently in, i would say the DRM is still there and the server side limits are removed is all.

The reason i say that is if you google the groupees bemine bundle you will see the game and it is alongside 2 other titles with NO DRM and clearly marked as such but this game has no such flags indicating no DRM.

Yes it is a guess, until the developer can or "will" say otherwise?

Yeah, but what Bemine means with "no DRM" is "Steam free" (Steam is DRM after all), therefor you can download King's Bounty directly from their website or add it to Steam for example. In the case of X-Blades and Tropico, they are only providing Steam keys and no "Steam-free" version, but there still the doubt about the activations.

Yeh true mate, i hope the developer can clear the air and tell us one way or another.

This is NOT true. I just tried to install my Two Worlds II Tower Defense. I have built a new system and re-installing all my games. It won't activate because it says activation limits are reached. This is only the third time I have tried to install the game. It told me to call a number to activate it and gave me a Germany number. I called, and was told the same thing. I can't play my game anymore that I bought on Steam and it's not like I can re-buy it on Steam nor is it like Steam is going to give me a new number. So Topware saying they removed their activation limits from their Steam titles is NOT TRUE.

and that phone call to Germany cost me more than I paid for the game in the first place.

Fail for DRM once again - seems legit customers are always teh ones hurt, not the pirates.

AW: Activation Questions
... If you send me a private message with your product activation code I'll look it up in the database.
Once your counter has reached 3 you can ask me or UnKnOwN to reset your activations.
So, if by chance, your activation already has reached 3 I will of course reset it back to 0.

It is fail DRM. They will reset your activation count with no problems currently though. When the company that made the game goes out of business someday you are sure to be screwed.

That said I would not avoid buying the game because of the DRM as the game is not amazing and you will have played it all that you will want to within the first few days and probably never will want to revisit it so it won't matter that much if you can't reset your activation count in a few years. The bigger problem than the game DRM is that the game just isn't all that interesting compared to other options in the action genre. Really just go play some free to play online game like Warframe and it will be better in every way and cost nothing.

I heard that the DRM was removed... I guess not...
