Had CTD today, when...

...normally I have no CTD (Crashing to Desktop) at all.

So before I start troubleshooting what may be causing the sudden crashes (have had CTD three times already today during approx. 2/3 of a normal gaming session) I thought I'd post a general question here first...

THE QUESTION:
Have any others of you had CTDs today where you usually have none, or have you had (perhaps many) more CTDs than you normally have?

I ask about this here because it may only be a temporary issue with Steam's servers or Internet connection in which case all we have to do is wait another few hours, or maybe another day at the most, before the problem will get solved and we can go on playing as usual.

All I need from you guys is a short line sayiing either "Yeah, I have the same issue, started today" or "I've had no problems with this, my game behaves as always"....something like that or even shorter will do, unless you have specifc information about what causes it and want to share it with us. In either case...

PS. I'm only asking about CTDs that started happening today, because up until yesterday my game was virtually CTD-free. The crashes started today.

I'm not having any new problems, running over 150 mods.

It sounds like conflicting mods. It's nothing to do with steam. Sometimes you can play the game for a week before having the CTD start because the conflicting mods weren't in use. But as soon as the mod start's doing it's function when you call upon it, if another mod conflicts with you'll see those CTDs. Hope this helps.

It helps. I did suspect it might have to do with where I have put this mod, or rather, with the fact I haven't moved it from where it is now: At the very bottom of the list in Datafiles.

But you've given me some ideas I hadn't thought of - it could be one other mod which was also first accessed today (but installed several days ago). - I'm unsure, but at least now I have something to work with.

I also have been having this problem. 20+ hours of CTD free game play and now cant play more then 20-30 minutes without it crashing. Very frustrating. I even started a new game and now I cant even get out of helgen with out it crashing. Never had any problems before...

Its not an issue with Steam or servers - the game is single player and has no online component.

It *is* just smething to do with the fact that Bethesda has pushed the gamebryo engine about as far as it can go - just the base game with no DLC CTD's way too often.

And if you've modded it, you've pushed it even further.

Do you have BOSS on, check for dirty edits(mods only), deactive those, through NMM, if two mods are very much the same in content choose one and leave other deactiviated. In CBBE mods OK, but not shine and tan one (disable this one) it is for the other body mod.
Also I just remove all my saves and restarted afresh like 2400+ saves to zero (in count that is, I do not crash any more) Renew faces (black) for 4 races and removed old files using creation kit and directions supplied by the mod(cbbe type shine and tan).

Now you lost me. What can renewing your chars face have an impact upon CTD?

Hm, guess I'm not supposed to get the answer to this one - this time around, anyway.
