After Whiterun...

So after pretty much completing Whiterun, what was the next big city you hit next? And why? :)

I've always thought the reasons behind a person's first city of choice says a lot about the them and their playing style. Humor me and share me your second city story!

i usually follow a storyline root of travelling but if i had to say what my favorite city i looked forward to the most would have to be...winterhold. i like mage's and i feel at home there.

I can't say that there is one specific city I target next, I kinda go where the winds (and the quests) carry me.

Riften, 'cause I heard something about the Thieves being based there and it was fairly close to High Hrothgar

Depends, got Heartfire? If you are level 10 by this point, you might have received a letter by courier inviting you to Falkreath. Read the letter, go there, do a few minor quests, become Thane get a plot of land. Start building your house, but here's the thing you get a chest at the house to unload a lot of things. You don.t have to build the whole house at once, the materials you find there will just build the main entrance building, but its a start. Bed, cooking pit, another chest.

You can walk, as a matter of fact it is probably better, kill a few bandits, creatures, etc for the loot. Houses don't come cheap.

Solitude, because it was a long ride from Whiterun and I knew I would see much of Skyrim.

When I was first starting out, I actually made enough money to pay the fast-travel driver guy to take me to ALL of the cities so that I could fast travel there myself.

Then I did Solitude.

I tend to stay around Whiterun and Falkreath because I have Frostfall and need the furs for traveling into the colder areas.

I stopped by Windhelm so learn more about the Stormcloaks and pay regards to Ulfric, see if he was the kind of leader I could truly lend my Companion and Dragonborn sword and loyalty to, and to check out the city.
But that was merely on my way to Winterhold to apply about the mage's college and learn some destruction and healing - I like good information and time to chew on things as I quietly develop my skills.
I run almost everywhere, never ride or take a cart, and very rarely quicktravel.

It's interesting to see that the majority do not fast travel. On my first playthrough I did what bman801 did and paid the caravanman to drive me everywhere so I could then fast travel at my pleasure, but this time around I refuse to do that and I am just running everywhere. I've always found the cost of the horses too high for me (at least, in Whiterun they are, I can't remember if the cost changes elsewhere), so I just stick to hiking it!

I've just finished Whiterun (I keep typing 'Winterfell' and having to correct myself) and Falkreath, so I'm trying to decide where to head to next.. I might just see where the quests I have take me and wander into the major cities that way instead of having a set plan.

How is Frostfall? :) Difficulty out of 10? I've been very tempted to nab it and give it a whirl..

frostfall is very unforgiving for those that do not enjoy wearing fur armor ALL the time.

The First place i went to after Whiterun was winterhold because i am a huge mage fan, also i heard that you could get the spell Bound Bow there.

The first place that I ended up after Whiterun was probably Windhelm. I generally just start exploring and that was the direction that I happened to take off in. I still tend to wander where ever strikes my interest, be it resources, a quest or a fight.
