Wait for Skyrim: LE to go on sale or buy GMG Guild Wars 2?
Hi all,

Guild Wars 2 on GMG is currently having a 36% discount.

Skyrim have just released the Legendary Edition recently.

So.. I am currently in a pinch. Looking for a game to hold me during my extra time until Dark Souls 2 is released on March 2014 and Diablo III itemization patch.

Which game has a more beautiful looking world to explore?

Which game has a deeper lore?

Can I transform into a dragon in Skyrim? Is it better than "Divinity: Eco Dragonis"?

I am more of an "Action oriented" type player and prefer my games to be engaging and never ending.

My favourite games of all time has been Diablo II, Dark Souls, Final Fantasy 7, 8 and 9.

Hope to get some unbiased opinion here.

Hi Mate,

save your money, either of games (Skyrim LE, GW2) is not just something until DS2 will be released. I own both of them, unfortunetaly, I am not playing GW2 much, better said, I was not playing that for 2 months; I have a feeling, that GW2 is loosing its popularity.

BUT, there is an advice for you, go and play WoW...it is for free ;)

World of Warcraft?

But I am not a hardcore gamer. As such, I don't like to be tied down with the monthly subscription and feel like I am not playing the game long enough to make it worthwhile. It is like subscribing to a cable television and never watching it, ever.

Guildwars 2 is just a WoW clone. and its not that good. i bought it when it first came out and played maybe an hour of it. skyrim legendary is well worth the money. if you like those sort of games you will get a heap of playtime out of it. easily 100 hours, you have a lot of things to do in it. i think ive racked up 50 hours already and im only level 28 out of 81. although i did start a new game to mess around with mods and stuff.

100 hours of gaming for legendary edition makes it 50 cents an hour for entertainment. well worth it.

You don't have to wait for Skyrim LE to go on sale..Buy Skyrim. Then, once the DLC has dropped, buy that....simple. It's all the same thing..LE is just the bundle..no difference..

bud LE is nice priced bundle...i got it for 32€ (eq. 32USD)....bad thing is that i bought skyrim on release :/ and now, LE was cheaper than buying DLCs seperately :/
There is so much to do in the Stand alone Skyrim, that you can get that for cheaper, then wait for the DLC to fall in price, that's the cheapest way of doing it and you don't miss out on ANYTHING....

i would stay away from GW2 the end game is nothing but WvWvW or PVP unless you like that and go play Rift and its free from 1-60 the max level. the only thing you will not have is more then 2 slots for toons or bags and storm legion souls. WoW is only free from 1-20 you have to pay to get to level 90.

I smell WoW fanboys, dear op please play WoW as the game only lost 1.3 million subs this quarter figure.

To the op, I say the choice is yours and you have already decided on which games you are interested in, which is guild wars 2 or skyrim.

Do you want to play an mmo or a single player game capable of modding ?

My answers to your questions

Both guild wars 2 and Skyrim are both nice looking games, so their worlds are both nice looking. Where guild wars 2 uses artistic graphics which might not be appealing to some, it will retain its looks over time, skyrim on the other hand has nice graphics and also has a hi-res texture pack and mods to improve graphics, but will age over time once another elder scrolls on a new engine is released.

Both are very deep in lore, some might say elder scrolls series has more lore.

Someone, somewhere at sometime has made a mod to turn into a dragon, whether its better than Divinity I don't know, probably not.

Both games are engaging, they both require the player to avoid blows and move around, but guild wars 2 uses a hotkey bar system where skyrim relies on using the equiped weapon or spell. As for never ending well guild wars 2 continues to get additial content added which seems to be quite frequent and as well as balancing updates, skyrim doesn't really get updates and the balancing on its weapons and spells are off, its basically left to the community to create mods, but skyrim limits are down to a players imagination because of the mass amount of mods out there and there is still more being created.

Hope that is unbiased enough.

One of the best Action RPG games I can think of is Torchlight II.

I am a casual gamer myself and I like Skyrim much more than GW2. I love roleplaying and Skyrim allows you to do that much better. As for action I get more thrills when playing in 1st person view, which works quite well in Skyrim.
Both games can take up massive amounts of time. Especially if you get into the lore. (I forget myself for hours when playing Skyrim for example.) If you just want to play a cheap game to pass the time, I could also suggest trying TERA, which is now free-to-play and where the battle system is really action orientated.

Guild wars 2 is a good choice but its not very player friendly when it comes to leveling. if you want a casual expierience then i sugest skyrim. skyrim has a very high replay value and will hold you up for a very long time.
Heinrich Kemmler 25 jun. 2013 às 7:27
The combat system in TERA is the only thing going for it. apart from that the quests are just the same thing over and over. that said, the combat system for TERA should be put on to every new fantasy mmo, theres a reason its the only things going for it, its really good.

Skyrim is a great game, and personally I would pick it, however gw2 is NOT a wow clone, the questing and leveling system is very unique in terms of the ability to explore, however the endgame isnt that great and unless you join a HUGE guild on a good server with a great wvw team, you probably wont enjoy it that much once you get to max level (unless you get really really into the lore) Alas, I would put the games at equal in my honest opinion :D
Nekomancer 25 jun. 2013 às 7:42
well how about The Last Remnant by Square Enix? yes, it is an RPG but it has a real tactical gameplay expierience to it and some of the battle's are just super epic. it has moderately High Replay Value. the combat mechanics are hard to grasp at first but after loging at least a day's worth of time, you should get the hang of it. the game is a real trial and error type though. combat can sometimes be merciless and unforgiving if you are leveled to high or your team's are too weak. i use the word team's cause you can have more than one group fighting at the same time. i think it's like 9$ on steam right now and so its really cheap.

ill just point this out, and its a good indicator of quality i think anyway. skyrim, both vanilla and now legendary has been in steam top sellers and even in the featured list pretty much since it was released what? 2 years ago? now that is not a common thing. and idk if anyone answered the questions you asked OP but yes the world is beautiful in skyrim the trees, landscape, the sky and mountains, my pc runs it on ultra high with only the slightest lag at times in towns, almost unnoticable. and yes you can turn into a dragon using a shout, can only be used once a day though. then again you can turn into a werewolf and a vampire too.

check out the screenshots on my profile of skyrim to see some of the graphics, the ones on private are of my main character and lydia running around whiterun nude. so you cant see those.
