First Dragon Will Not Give Up Soul!!!

Tried several times, but that first dragon in White Run will not give up its soul when I kill it!
Running a few mods, but BOSS says I'm cool. Even reinstalled Skyrim. Any help would be much appreciated.

Pop open the console, type player.modav dragonsouls 1 to progress. Never experienced this myself, but atleast there's a way around it.

How close is your character standing to the Dragon?

Do you have the Dragonborn DLC and the Unofficial Patch mods installed? Make sure you have the latest versions as there was an issue with dragons releasing their souls.

Didn't work. Got the soul by console, But then it just disappears The dragon is dead but all the

guards are still crouching in fear.

Thanks! Interesting. I have both installed, but BOSS is telling me Dragonborn needs to be cleaned...All the dlcs need to be cleaned according to BOSS. Since I reinstalled Skyrim I'm
thinking it's some BS little file somewhere.

First. Do you have a prior save just before you have to go kill the Western Watchtower dragon?
If so you might try this. Before you go to that last save, disable the last mod you added then go into and load that save and see if it fixed the problem. If not do not save but quit then disable the next mod and repeat the process. If you have like twenty mods then it might not be worthwile. It sounds like a corrupted file that has the next instruction so the game cannot proceed at that point. Hope you can find the culprit this way.
I am not familiar with the 'alternative start mod' but if it gave you problems before it might be diong the same thing now. Unfortunately there is a thing about the skyrim coding that may require you to delete that mod and start a new game to get the files reloaded.

It does happen, for some odd thing, I can have only 9 Dragon Souls. I don't know why it just does.

It might just go back to a mod you added. Mod's have a way of messing things up unintentionally. What happens is a mod will change some code for the mod to work but if it messes with a link or you delete the mod the code doesn't get changed without starting a new game. The code in this game just has to be Gianormous and one instruction call that gets modified can mess with stuff. I speak from experience as a gamer not a programmer although I did have programming in my history.
