Just curious to what this download of 144.9 mb is for, so i want to know what's in this as steam is downloading as im posting.

It's downloading updates to mods you are subscribed too.

Just go into skyrim workshop, and click on your list of subscribed mods. There should be a date to indicate when they were last updated

Ok thanks for letting me know. I remember the last time i played Skyrim when launching the game, mods would update before launching the game, so maybe things have changed since playing some time ago.
