Black Screen Computer Crash
Occasionally Skyrim will just turn black, and my computer has to be restarted. Nothing seems to trigger it, it will just randomly cut out. Anyone know how to fix it?

You can't even alt-tab out, or open Task Manager?

Are you using the latest audio and video drivers for your system? If not try updating.

Does the sound stop too? Or does it keep playing after the screen goes black?

It plays for a couple of seconds, then stops.

What graphics card do you have?

I had it too, I needed a cold restart every time and after a search I found that it was caused by the autosaves. Every time a loading screen started it autosaved afterwards so I unchecked autosave in the options (think there are 3 if i can remember) and now it works like a charm.
Remember to manually save often though.
Hope it helps, cheers

Ok, has statred crashing again, but the autosave being gone seems to have made it take longer before crashing.

It's quote of J6M his post, dunno if it helps.
If not maybe your graphic card isn't supported. Does it have enough memory and do you have enough RAM? Have you checked your gamefiles to see if some are missing/corrupt? (right click skyrim-properties-local files-cache integrity)
Does the crash occur in certain environments, after loading screen,...? You can play windowed mode to be able to check your task manager(ctrl+alt+delete) at the same time to check performance (sometimes your CPU will be hanging at 100%) and check the usage of memory (RAM)
If u can locate the problem you can search the FAQ's.
Lowering your screen size and set everything on low might be a good start to see if the problem is caused by anything graphical.

It's a known issue that just happens every once in a while. What I do is have one button on my gamer keyboard macroed to launch the following.

taskkill /F /IM TESV*

That should force close skyrim, if your computer isn't completely frozen.
